
- Make sure to include proteins for your breakfast. Proteins are builders of the body. It is the first meal of the day and it has to be really good. It is said that you should break the fast like a king. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
- Try and cut down on foods like white bread, white pastas and refined flours. Avoid flour based foods completely.
- Opt for foods which are unprocessed and natural. Some foods like fresh fruits, vegetables, whole pulses and steamed vegetables. 90% of the food ingested by you should be all the above food items mentioned above.
- In case you are habituated to eat lot of starch based foods, make sure you cut down on such foods to at least one portion daily. Do not include starch based foods for dinner. They can be had either for breakfast or lunch. Ideal choices are oatmeal (with the husk), beans etc.
- This does not mean you can gorge on fruits. Restrict fruit intake to one daily. Go in for high fiber fruits like apples, berries and plums. These fruits have very less sugar content. People who like to eat nuts can choose nuts which have very less fat in them. Avoid fruit juices for the time being. Fruits eaten in the fruit form have better results since they contain lot of fiber in them which ensures the body as well your skin is well nourished. The fiber is totally lost when it the fruit is juiced.
- Try and cut down on milk, dairy and dairy products completely. Instead you could include curds which contain less of fat.
- Say no to alcohol – if you are able to do that, it is wonderful. Give up on wine as well. Wine contains lot of calories. It may have health benefits, but it does not help you to lose weight. The good effects of fruits and vegetables cannot be underestimated. There is no replacement for fresh fruits and vegetables.
- Completely curtail oils like corn oil, sunflower oil and safflower oil. These are refined oils and they clog the arteries. Instead change to olive oil. Olive oil is light on the heart and it is very good for the body. It is very healthy for the heart and the body. It has not side effects. Olive oil has become the medium of cooking in most households after people have realized its value.
- Check the fats you are including in your diet. The type of fat which you are ingesting daily plays a very important role in your health. Completely give up on friend stuff like chips, wafers and oils which are hydrogenised. Opt for omega 3 content. This is found in abundance in fish oil and flaxseed oil
- Water – the Universal healer: There is nothing like pure water. Make sure to drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water daily. The body remains hydrated – The skin and the body glow and you feel healthy from within.
