Stick to a weight loss program that suits you

There are so many people who are fighting to lose weight. Problems of obesity are rising.. People spend thousands of rupees and enroll for various diet programs and weight reduction programs to fight flab. All programs guarantee weight loss, but how many of them are successful? We should appreciate that the body anatomy of each individual is different; every person has a different constitution. Different medical histories, different personality traits, different lifestyles – all factors have to be considered while going in for weight reduction programs. A program that may suit one person may not be applicable and would not fit perfectly another individual.

There is something for everyone – Do not get disappointed – Follow a strict regimen religiously.

Following a strict dietary restriction is tough for some individuals. A perfect diet program not only involves dealing with the diet programs but also understanding a person’s emotional problems. Sticking to a diet program would be successful only if a person is mentally strong to follow the diet program. Successful diet programs also involve addition or deletion of certain foods which would increase hunger pangs. Some medications are also prescribed which curb the feeling of hunger. There are diet programs which prescribe heavy milk shakes or fruit shakes which would make you feel really full. These healthy foods provide the essential nutrients without increasing the calorie value.

For certain people it is not the craving for food which is an issue, it is the type of diet they ingest. Some diet programs have very severe diet restrictions which enable weight reduction; because they are designed in such a way that digestion becomes easier.

Diet programs are classified as:

  • Long term diet programs
  • Short term diet programs

Short term diet programs are those which are for a short period of time where the individual would want to shed weight within a stipulated period of time.

Long term diet programs are basically changes in the lifestyle, dietary habits. Depending on the will power of the person and the regimen which he or she follows, the diet program would be a success. For example if you want to shed a few pounds before your marriage, you need to enroll for a short term program. You need not enroll for a long term program. Similarly, if you have health problems and you want to reduce your weight, then you need to undergo a long term program under proper medical advice.

Some weight reduction programs recommend lot of exercises – be it floor exercises or aerobics. It is for the individual to decide which exercise suit him or her best. It is possible that some would be comfortable doing a floor exercise say for example yoga whereas some would be comfortable doing a bell dance. The more you consider exercise as a fun thing to do, the greater are the chances that you would continue to do it. This would yield quicker and positive results.

One essential thing that people need to take notice is that your way of life and your overall personality has to be considered while going in for an exercise schedule. It is not necessary that all exercises would suit all individuals. Do something you are comfortable doing and interests you.

Make sure you set goals which are achievable and humanly possible. Be levelheaded in deciding the number of pounds you want to shed – state the time period for achieving this. If you feel it is making you uncomfortable and stressful, it is advised that you give a break immediately and begin afresh when you are in a better state of mind.
